Drawing with light...

The purpose of this site is to provide art educators with a resource to incorporate photography into the art curriculum.  I hope you choose to give it a try, it is easier than you think!

The word photography is derived from the Greek word "photos" meaning light, and "graphos" meaning write. Photography not only allows children to document what they see, it also encourages them to see the world in new and meaningful ways.  Through the creation of photographic images, children are empowered to transform what they see through creative expression.  Children also use higher order thinking skills when they are encouraged to critique and analyze their own photos and those of others.

"Whether shooting a portrait or framing a landscape, or capturing favorite things, teaching young people to understand both the technical and creative side of photography requires that you take a multidisciplinary approach to art (and life)."
